It’s important to register as a candidate with the NSWEC as soon as possible, because without this process you won’t be able to accept donations for your campaign. The registration process also requires you to appoint an official agent to manage campaign finances. Official Agents are required to undergo specialized online training on their obligations, unless they are a practicing accountant and therefore exempt.

To register for an election and notify the NSWEC of the appointment of your official agent you must complete the form called Application for Registration of a Candidate and Notice of Appointment of Official Agent, which can be downloaded from the NSW Elections website or obtained by calling the Candidate Centre on 1300 088 942.
